About this Project

East Sussex County Council contacted Eternal Build to review some very intricate and sensitive repairs to an existing 200-year-old bridge crossing a stream down a bridgeway, located in woodland the Hamlet of Hammerwood, near Forest Row.

The existing bridge had heavily deteriorated over the long standing years, one of the walls to the side of the bridge had completely collapsed into the stream and a large tree had started to grow and intwine itself amongst the remaining arch brickwork.
Eternal Build structurally supported what remained and dismantled the bridge back to a place where the works could then be undertaken to re-build the structure to match what was left standing.

New brickwork and crack stitch repair was undertaken, to complete the wall, sandstone copings have been used to match the existing wall.
